Agate Fossil Beds National Monument

22 mi. S. of Harrison on NE Hwy 29 - The visitors center and museum contain Miocene Era paleontology exhibits and American Indian artifacts. The park includes upper Niobrara River wetlands in a High Plains ecosystem. Open Memorial Day-Labor Day, daily, 9am-5pm. Rest of the year, daily, 8am-4pm. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years Day. Traditional cultural demonstrators are available most weekends during summer. Trails open year-round, daily, dawn-dusk.
